John has over 20 years experience in the timber and hardware business.
He commenced his career at Bowens working as a yardman during his school holidays and, following some time at University, he has directly experienced life in nearly every part of the business. John also spent some time in the 1990's working for several U.S. lumber companies.
In July 2005 he succeeded his father, Jack, as Bowens' fourth Managing Director in 115 years.
When not working, John enjoys spending time with his wife and their four sons, and, when allowed, he occasionally swings a golf club.
Dahlsens Building Centres
Geoff Dahlsen is the CEO at Dahlsens Building Centres, a fifth generation family business with stores throughout Victoria and Southern New South Wales. The Dahlsens Group also owns Cairns Hardware Company, Nortruss Builders Supplies in the Northern Territory and Western Australia and Midcoast Timber Centres in Sydney and the Central Coast.
Geoff is a qualified solicitor, holds an MBA and is also a Director of Plumbing Plus. He is based in Sydney.
Hardware & General Supplies Limited
After a successful career of 14 years in the Accounting Profession with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Chartered Accounting firms, Philip joined the family hardware business.
Philip has now served 30 years with the family business of Hardware & General Supplies Limited overseeing the operation expand into 6 locations across the Sydney metropolitan area.
Philip has an extensive background in the area of Buying Groups, being involved with Plumbing Plus Bathroom Kitchen and Laundry Pty Limited for over 25 years firstly as Treasurer and now sits on the National Purchasing Committee which he joined in 2003.
Philip has a Bachelor of Business from UTS and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
Outside of work commitments, Philip enjoys spending time with his wife, five children and young grandson.
Mike started his career at AV Jennings, which was then Australia’s largest home builder, in a range of building and management roles. He then went on to join Boral Limited, starting out as General Manager for their windows fabrication business in Queensland and the Northern Territory before taking on responsibility for their concrete roof tile manufacturing and installation business in Queensland. He then moved to Perth to become Regional General Manager for their Construction Materials business in Western Australia and South Australia which covered concrete, quarries, precast concrete, asphalt, road maintenance and transport.
He then shifted to Sydney to take up the position as Managing Director of the private equity owned Hudson Building Supplies, which had 15 trade-focused building supply outlets across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and a number of regional locations.
Mike finally returned to Queensland to take up the role as CEO of the then ASX listed MSF Sugar, a role he held for 13 years until he stepped down in early 2020.
